"Das Kloster in der Ostengasse 31 wurde 1613 auf Anregung von Kaiser Matthias gegründet, um seine Bemühungen zum Ausgleich der Konfessionen in Regensburg zu unterstützen. Bis 1810 wurde es von den Kapuzinern aus St. Matthias genutzt. Dann wurde das Kloster im Zuge der Säkularisation aufgelöst. Die Gebäude wurden 1810/1811 an die Klarissen aus Sankt Maria Magdalena übergeben, deren eigene Gebäude 1809 bei der napoleonischen Belagerung durch einen Brand zerstört worden waren. Sie bewohnten das Kloster bis 1974, danach hatte es mehrere Nutzer nebeneinander. Im Rahmen des Plans einer vierspurigen Donauallee mit Abriss der Donaufront an der Keplerstraße und Ostengasse und der Kreuzung einer Nord-Süd-Achse am Donaumarkt hatte die Stadt den Gebäudekomplex erworben, nach Änderung der Planung für die gesamte Altstadt in den 1960er Jahren aber von einem Abriss Abstand genommen. Nach teilweisem Umbau nutzte das Ostkirchliche Institut Regensburg bis 2012 den Komplex um den Kreuzgang auch für die Unterbringung orthodoxer Stipendiaten. In andere Gebäudeteile zogen Teile der städtischen Verwaltung und Jugendhilfe ein. 2010 wurde die circa 4000 m² große Klosteranlage von der Stadt Regensburg zum Verkauf angeboten. "The monastery in Ostengasse 31 was founded in 1613 at the suggestion of Emperor Matthias to support his efforts to reconcile confessions in Regensburg.
