"Carol Taren likes to dig in the dirt and plant flowers, watch them gradually poke their heads out of the soil and admire their blooms at Cutler Botanic Garden in Dickinson. “It’s therapy,” the 84-year-old Binghamton woman said. “You get your hands in the soil.” Taren is one of 73 master gardeners who plant, weed and maintain the 4.5 acre garden on Upper Front Street. She is believed to be the longest serving active volunteer with 39 years of service, according to Cornell Cooperative Extension of Broome County records."
