Lafayette Square is one of the most important and impressive squares originally laid out for the growing village of Buffalo by Joseph Ellicott. In the center of the square is the 85 foot tall Soldiers & Sailors Monument, topped by a 10 1/2 foot female figure.
Every Thursday evening during the summer, the park and surrounding streets are filled with people enjoying the Thursday at the Square concerts. Top name singers and bands perform here, attracting as many as 20,000 people.
The park is also frequented by many downtown workers on their lunch breaks. There are several benches to relax on and do some people watching, or surf the internet with free wifi access in the park.
There is no sign for the park.
