Roadside America states that it is a warship built in 1812, now decaying - what's left is still big.

In Whitehall, between Main Street and the Champlain Canal, are the remnants of the U.S.S. Ticonderoga, which is listed on Roadside America as an attraction.

The remains are located in a small park on the south side of the building housing the Skenesborough Museum. They are under a long open shed with a peaked roof. The remains are basically a flattened hull made of wood.

The following is entered on the Roadside America web site:

"A warship built in 1812, now decaying under a long metal shed at the museum. What's left of it is still pretty big."

A tip on the page had the following additional information:

"U.S.S. Ticonderoga remains

The wooden remains of the War of 1812 warship "U.S.S. Ticonderoga" (the first of many historic vessels to bear the name of the nearby famous fort) rest under a rusting metal shed along the old Champlain Canal in downtown Whitehall, N.Y. located next to the town museum. The ship was originally built as one of the world's first steamboats on Lake Champlain, but was quickly refitted to sail to fight the British fleet in the Second Battle of Lake Champlain (aka Battle of Plattsburgh) on Sept. 11, 1814. Landlocked Whitehall was, believe it or not, the birthplace of the U.S. Navy!"

Now, I wouldn't call Whitehall exactly landlocked. While it isn't along a sea coast, it is at the head of Lake Champlain, which is a large freshwater boundary, and, at the time, an important navigational route.
