Victoria Quays originally opened in 1819 and for many years was a busy canal wharf. In 1848 the canal was bought out by the Manchester, Sheffield and Lincolnshire Railway Company and then slowly declined, finally closing in the 1970s.
The canal is now only used by leisure craft, and Victoria Quays has been regenerated with a hotel and various retail outlets including a bakery.
This heron, a bird that catches fish seems to have bitten off more than it can chew as the fish is almost as big as it.
