The gardens rested neglected and hidden from the 1930's to 1997. In 1997, the Spokane Parks and Recreation Department had begun clean-up of the steep hill that is the gardens after the Ice Storm of 1996, when the terraces and stairs became visible again. The formal gardens were reopened in 2007 after extensive repair and reconstruction, with the generous financial support of Miss Myrtle Woldson.
