"Vstupní brána do pevnosti z Pankráce. Byla postavena v letech 1655-1656, brzy po zacátku stavby vyšehradské citadely v r. 1653. Vznik barokní citadely Vyšehrad souvisel se stavbou pražského opevnení (v letech 1653-1727), které nahradilo dosavadní zastaralý stredoveký obranný systém. Opevnovací práce na Vyšehrade zacínaly, citadela byla v základe na konci 70. let 17. století hotova. K menším úpravám a zdokonalením docházelo až do poloviny 19. století."
