This contributing building is part of the Union Creek Historic District, the majority of which was constructed by the Civilian Conservation Corps in the 1930s.

This cabin is Contributing Building No. 27 within the National Register of Historic Places Nomination Form and part of the Union Creek Historic District, officially registered in 1980.

The Nomination Form says the following in regards to this contributing building:

27. Forest Service Residence #1031: 1934 - CCC, T-shaped, wood frame structure, high hipped roof, high intersecting gable, uncoursed lava rock foundation. Exterior sawn wood shingles, multi-light sash windows, covered porches. Exterior in very good condition, altered only by addition of shed roofed lean-to storage shed.

This building today looks pretty much the same as it did when photos were taken of it in 1980.
