This sundial is mounted on the south face of the bell tower of All Saints Church, constructed late 15th Century with 19th century additions and alterations.

The sundial was made in Skipton, by Smith and mounted on the tower in 1803 as confirmed by an engraving at the top of the sundial.

Its use was superseded in 1856 when a large clock was installed, one face of which is above the sundial.

The engraving has the following text.
SMITH
FECIT
SKIPTON
1803
The word 'fecit' is Latin for made.
