Fannie Ola Smith

TEXAS CITY-Fannie Ola Smith, 101, departed this life on Saturday, February 8, 2014, at the young age of 101. She lived a beautiful life.

Fannie was born to Monroe and Lucy Pollard Smith on December 20, 1912, in Willis, Texas. She was a charter member of Gethsemane Baptist Church and served until her health failed.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene Smith; parents, seven siblings; nephew, Donald Evans; nieces; Zona Loving and Lucy Allen.

Fannie leaves to cherished memories with her family, niece: Mary Ann Sandles (Esse) of Texas City; great nieces: Steffanie Sandles of Dallas, Texas and Grace Sandles of Galveston, Texas and a host of friends.

Visitation will begin Friday, February 14th at 5 PM, followed by a wake from 6-7 PM at Fields-Johnson Family Mortuary. A Homegoing Celebration of her life will be held on Saturday February 15, 2014, at 1:00 PM, at held at Gethsemane Missionary Baptist Church, with Pastor Norman V. Johnson, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow at Rising Star Cemetery in La Marque, Texas.
