In Whitehall, within the Skenesborough Museum, is this display for a horse-drawn 'courtin' buggy.'
The museum is located along Main Street, across the street from the village and town offices, and about a quarter mile south of a truss bridge over the Champlain Canal.
The Skenesborough Museum is a combination history museum for Whitehall, and a tourist information center for the area. The exhibits are to the right and behind the desk. The museum has a main floor, and a smaller second floor. On the second floor is where the buggy is located.
The buggy is a two seater that is in natural brown wood. There are four thin spoked wheels on it. It has a canopy that is open on the sides. The seats have brown leather.
A small card states that this is a 'courtin' buggy.' Another small card states that it was owned by Dr. Annie Hull. A framed sign on the seat states that she lived in Queensbury, NY and had a practice in Glens Falls, NY. She used a horse and buggy in the summer and a sleigh in the winter until she obtained a Buick.
Elsewhere is a horse drawn pump and either a horse or people drawn ladder wagon.
