As described by the Coast and Geodetic Survey ("CGS") back in 1948:
"AT CANTON, APPROXIMATELY 0.15 MILE NORTHWEST OF THE COURTHOUSE, AT THE CITY WATER TANK, SET IN THE TOP OF THE SOUTH CORNER OF THE CONCRETE FOOTING OF THE SOUTHEAST LEG OF THE TOWER SUPPORTING THE TANK."
The 1948 description and associated reference points (i.e. distances/directions) are still good references for locating this station. The station's associated "NGS Data Sheet" posted coordinates are pretty accurate as well, and matched with my observations.
The station was recovered in good condition; see posted waymark's gallery images for BM close-up and setting details.
