The windmill has a tower of 40 feet (12.2 metres) & a wheel of 27 feet (8.2 metres). Its function is now purely decorative however a mill of this size can pump between 5,000 and 7,000 gallons (22,700 to 31,800 litres) per day.
The windmill was originally erected to pump water from a bore on Bungaban Station. It was donated by the station's owner to the Wandoan & District Progress Assoc., renovated & re-erected in the park.
