The Bonn Planet Path was inaugurated in September 2002, after two years of preparatory work, at the Bonn promenade (West bank of the river Rhine). The model was created on the idea and initiative of the Bertolt-Brecht-Gesamtschule in Bonn.

The path depicts our solar system on the scale of one to one billion at a length of 5.946 kilometers. At each station there is a bronze plate, which represents the respective planet relief-like. Each station provides brief information about the shown planet - also in Braille. In addition, signs show the path in its entirety for better orientation.

The path starts with this model of the sun. The sun - with a real equatorial diameter of 1.392.000 kilometers - as a model has a diameter of 1.5 meters and is located below the old waterworks at Stresemannufer.
