EN: Georges Christian (1875-1927) was one of the two founders of the watch brand ORIS in 1904, which has been headquartered in Hölstein since the beginning and was the most important employer of the entire region for decades. The company still exists, but after a crisis in the 1970s it has become smaller and now produces exclusively mechanical watches in the upper price segment.

The tomb of Georges Christian is located opposite the entrance to the church and separated from the other graves in the cemetery. The tombstone is an raw rock with an oval metal relief that has engraved the portrait, the name and the live dates. Beneath there is written: "his life was love and work".

In front of the tombstone, there is a plaque set up by the municipality with the text: "With the final resting place of Georges Christian, Hölstein is connected to the co-founder of the ORIS clock factory in 1904, for decades the most important employer and the beginning of a changeable Success story of Swiss watch making."
