Not only has the school undergone a name change in its lifetime, but it has undergone a major paradigm change, as well. Since 1982, École Beairsto has been the home of School District No. 22's Elementary French Immersion Programme. It is the largest single-track French Immersion elementary school in British Columbia and the largest elementary school in the Vernon School District.
The renaming of the school was to honor Harold K. Beairsto, who was principal of the school from 1925 to 1961.
Since 1982, École Beairsto has been the home of School District No. 22's Elementary French Immersion Programme. We are BC's largest single-track French Immersion elementary school and the largest elementary school in the Vernon School District.
We currently have 585 students in 24 divisions from grades 1-7.
