Puvodní kostel sv. Mikuláše byl v Šitboricích postaven již pred rokem 1255 a jeho zakladatel není známý. V roce 1645 byl kostel vypálen, spolecne s celou vesnicí.
Kostel byl následne prestaven v roce 1669 v barokním slohu; tato jeho podoba se dochovala pouze na fotografiích z prelomu 19. a 20. století.
Koncem 19. století už kostel kapacitne nedostacoval a zacaly tak prípravy na stavbu nového kostela, který byl postaven na stejném míste jako kostel starý.
Nový kostel byl vysvecen 28. zárí 1913, na svátek sv. Václava.
V soucasné dobe je kostel využíván každodenne, nedelních bohoslužeb se zde úcastní nekolik set farníku. Poslední velkou rekonstrukcí prošel kostel v roce 2013, kdy byla položena nová strecha a opravena fasáda celého kostela.
V soucasné dobe se v kostelní veži nachází již tretí sada zvonu, pocházející z roku 1947:

The original church. Nicholas was Šitborice built before the year 1255, and its founder is not known. In 1645 the church was burnt, together with the whole village.
The church was then rebuilt in 1669 in Baroque style; This latter form has been preserved only in photographs from the 19th and 20th centuries.
In the late 19th century, the church was insufficient capacity and thus began preparations for the construction of a new church, which was built on the same site as the old church.
The new church was consecrated on September 28, 1913, on the Feast of Sts. Vaclav.
Currently, the church is used every day, the Sunday Mass here attended by several hundred parishioners. The last major renovation of the church in 2013, when it was put a new roof and repaired facade of the whole church.
Currently, the church tower is the third set of bells, dating from 1947:
