The energy and water supplier of the city of Bonn "SWB Energie und Wasser" has been battling color daubs on utility boxes since 2008 within the framework of a marketing campaign. The SWB Energie und Wasser launched a competition according to the motto: "Colorful instead of dirty!" (German: "Bunt statt dreckig!"). Since then, many formerly smeared electricity boxes were designed artistically at very busy places in the city of Bonn on behalf of the SWB.
