The Douglas Head Lighthouse was established in 1857 at Douglas Head (Manx: Kione_Ghoolish), a rocky point on the Isle of Man overlooking Douglas Bay and harbour. It is surrounded by flat roofed and castellated service buildings.
Structural problems required the lighthouse to be rebuilt in 1892, now the white tower is 20 meters (66 ft) in height and its base is at an elevation of 12 meters (39 ft). The light has an average range of 24 nautical miles (44 km). The Douglas Head Lighthouse became automated in 1986.
