Taroom is a service centre for the surrounding beef cattle & wheat properties. Prussian explorer Ludwig Leichhardt passed through the district & marked a tree LL 44 (1844). The tree still stands today in the main street.
The cemetery has graves dating to the 1880's. It is well maintained & has monumental, modern graves & lawn sections.
