One of the older graves in the Coonabarabran cemetery, it's wording is particularly well preserved. This is one of two graves where a horse has been the catalyst in the death.

In trying to find some background I came upon the reminiscences of Mary Jane Cain (1844 - 1926) in the Mitchell library, the state library of NSW. She states in part:

Croxon then sold his buisness to two brothers John & William Kerr (Scott people they were). The Kerrs were both single men one was a carrier or in other words a teamster William Kerr & his cousin John Mc Cubbin were the carriers.

William Kerr was born in Dumfriess Shire (Scotland) so it is probable that this William Kerr is the same as recorded on the headstone.
