"Die St. Ursula Kirche ist das Wahrzeichen von Oberursel. Grabungen bezeugen, dass sich am heutigen Standort der St. Ursula Kirche schon seit über 1000 Jahren religiöse Bauten befanden, auf denen die Kirche Mitte des 15. Jahrhunderts erbaut wurde. Der Turm wurde 1479 bis 1498 als Wacht- und Glockenturm „Hohe Wacht“ gebaut. Die Oberurseler Bürger wollten mit der neuen Kirche ebenso wie mit dem Rathaus der Bedeutung ihrer Stadt Ausdruck verleihen und so wurden die finanziellen Mittel von zahlungskräftigen Gemeindemitgliedern zusammengetragen.
Auf dem Platz, an dem die neue Kirche errichtet werden sollte, stand bereits eine Pfarrkirche aus dem 12. Jahrhundert. Diese sollte dem neuen Bau eigentlich weichen, doch während der Bauarbeiten mussten die Geldgeber erkennen, dass die Kosten weit über das Mögliche hinausgingen und so wurde die alte Kirche in die Neue mit einbezogen. Aufgrund dieser Entscheidung finden sich heute noch Unregelmäßigkeiten im Grundriss der St. Ursula Kirche. Die Kirche wurde nach ihrer Zerstörung im 30jährigen Krieg (1645) erneuert. "

"The church of St. Ursula is the landmark of Oberursel, and excavations testify to the fact that the Church of St. Ursula was already built for over 1000 years, on which the church was built in the middle of the 15th century Was built as a guardhouse and bell tower "Hohe Wacht" until 1498. The Oberursel citizens wanted to express the importance of their city with the new church as well as with the town hall and thus the financial resources were brought together by a wealthy community members.
On the square where the new church was to be built stood a parish church from the 12th century. This should actually give way to the new construction, but during the construction work the donors had to recognize that the costs went far beyond what was possible and so the old church was included in the new. Due to this decision, there are still irregularities in the ground plan of the St. Ursula church. The church was renovated after its destruction in the Thirty Years War (1645). "
