In Whitehall, along the Champlain Canal, is the Skenesborough Museum, which has, among its many artifacts, some fire fighting equipment, including this horse-drawn ladder vehicle.
The museum is located on Main Street, just south of a bridge over the canal.
In the rear room of the museum, which is the largest room and the one that was in a building used as a warehouse to the canal, is various artifacts related to fire equipment, including two horse-drawn ladder vehicles. The one in this WM is the smaller and slimmer of the two. Both are hung up above the floor. This is the one on the right.
The vehicle has four wheels on a carriage that has ladders. A bar to hook up horses protrudes out to the left. There is a small medallion with the following:
"Rumsey & Co.
Seneca Falls,
NY"
I could not find anything more about the vehicle.
