This is a magic place. An abandoned lighthouse in the remote island of Santo Antão. It's easy to reach the structure, specially if the visitor has a car or can speak a bit of Portuguese (so a stop can be required from the shared taxi driver).

There is a plaque saying the lighthouse was build during the reign of king Dom Luís I, when Manuel Pinheiro Chagas was minister of the Navy and João Paes de Vasconcellos the governor of Cape Verde.

The works started in June 1884 and the lighthouse was ready by march 1886. The design and supervision was from Cavalry Colonel Frederico Augusto Torres, by then the Director of Public Works of the province.
