Fred Eckhart was a grain dealer in Viroqua, Wisconsin in the late 1800's. He was a prominent businessman who ran Fred Eckhart & Co Grain Dealers. In the early 1900's his interest became focused on the growing tobacco industry in Vernon County, especially in Viroqua. He went on to invest in the Bekkedal Tobacco Leaf Company which had warehouses in six counties in Wisconsin including the largest and most modern in Viroqua. In Viroqua a new warehouse was built and named the Frederick Eckhart Tobacco Warehouse. Before he passed away, Mr. Eckhart donated the land to make what is now known as Eckhart Park. He passed away in 1929 and in 1930 his daughter Minnie Eckhart-Dyson had this entrance erected in his memory. There are two plaques to the entrance.

Here is something from the NRHP that mentions him. Please search for the last name and you will find it.
