Das Stahlhaus wurde in den Jahren 1926/1927 errichtet und war ein Gemeinschaftswerk von Richard Paulick und dem Bauhaus-Meister Georg Muche.
Die beiden Erbauer wollten die Rationalisierungsbestrebungen von Walter Gropius (Vorfertigung von Betonteilen) fortsetzen, indem sie vorgefertigte Stahlplatten im Trockenmontageverfahren benutzten.
Das Gebäude mit fast 90 qm Wohnfläche steht auf einer Betonbodenplatte und besteht aus einer Stahlskelettkonstruktion. Diese Konstruktion wurde mit 3 mm starkem Stahlblech beplankt. Das Stahlblech ist auf der Innenseite gedämmt. Es besteht aus zwei unterschiedlich großen zusammengeschobenen Kuben, so dass sich unterschiedliche Raumhöhen ergeben. Die Decken des Wohnzimmers und eines Schlafzimmers sind höher als in den niedrigeren Räumen, in den die Türen und Fenster raumhoch ausgeführt sind. Die Farbgebung ist Grau, Weiß und Schwarz.
Das Stahlhaus wurde Anfang der 1990er Jahre grundlegend saniert und gehört zur Stiftung Bauhaus Dessau. Derzeit befindet sich hier ein Informationszentrum für die Siedlung Törten.

The steel house was built in the years 1926/1927 and was a joint effort by Richard Paulick and the Bauhaus masters Georg Muche .
The two builders wanted to continue the rationalization efforts of Walter Gropius ( prefabrication of concrete elements ) by prefabricated steel plates used in dry mounting method .
The building, with almost 90 square meters is on a concrete floor slab and consists of a steel skeleton construction . This construction was planked with 3 mm thick sheet steel. The steel sheet is insulated on the inside. It consists of two different sized cubes pushed together , so that there are different ceiling heights . The ceiling of the living room and one bedroom are higher than in the lower rooms, the doors and windows are designed room high. The color scheme is gray, white and black.
The steel house was thoroughly renovated in the early 1990s and is part of the Bauhaus Dessau Foundation. Currently, it houses an information center for the settlement Törten .
