Beside the waterfall at Tintagel Haven is the remains of a derrick which was used to winch the cargo to and from the beach.

An old cast iron winch on a clifftop overlooking Tintagel harbour on North Cornwall coast. The winch was used to haul in boats. Other ropes, some attached to rowing boats, helped boats navigate treacherous rocks surrounding the small narrow harbour. Slate was quarried & the tin mined locally. The Cornish tin mining area inspired the Poldark novels by Winston Graham.
