In 1900 a building used by J.M. Richardson for a photo studio and music store burned to the ground. It took 12 years for a new building to replace the old one. This building was built for J.J. McDonald for retail purposes. It was originally used by a business named Carr and Giddins but it is unknown what the business was. Very little is known about the other past tenants but today the building is used by the Sparta Public Defendants Office.
