[DE] Fachwerkhaus 1452
Dieses im Kern und vom Aufbau her gotische Fachwerkhaus wird "Rathaus" oder "Viergiebelhaus" genannt. Mit seinen drei hohen Fachwerk- und dem mächtigen Bruchsteingiebel prägt es das Ortsbild von Monreal. Das sicherlich als Adelssitz errichtete Gebäude mit großzügiger Raumaufteilung wurde 1737 mit einer durch alle Geschosse reichenden Fachwerkwand geteilt. Durch diese räumliche Trennung entstanden zwei Bürgerhäuser mit zahlreichen kleinen Räumen. Schon bei der Trennung wurde der südliche Hausteil (Marktplatz 1) durch den Erker zur Elz hin vergrößert. Um 1820 folgten zwei weitere Anbauten im gewerblich genutzten Teil des Gebäudes (Obertorstr. 3). Die Familie Jung betrieb hier über Generationen eine Bäckerei, die bis 1976 bestand. Die Gemeinde Monreal erwarb 1989 und 1992 beide Haushälften mit dem Ziel, das Gebäude weitgehend in seinen ursprünglichen Zustand zu versetzen. Erste Analysen zeigten die Dringlichkeit dieses Vorhabens. Fünf Jahrhunderte und der sorglose Umgang unserer Vorfahren mit der Bausubstanz hatten das Haus schwer geschädigt. Nach aufwendiger Sanierung mit Mitteln der Gemeinde Monreal und der ideellen und finanziellen Hilfe des Landes Rheinland-Pfalz (Mittel aus der Dorferneuerung und des Landesamtes für Denkmalpflege) sowie der Deutschen Stiftung Denkmalschutz konnte die Maßnahme nach zweijähriger Bauzeit erfolgreich beendet werden. Im Rahmen eines Dorffestes wurde das Haus am 16. Juli 2004 seiner neuen Bestimmung übergeben. Heute ist es der lebendige kulturelle Mittelpunkt des Ortes, Dienstsitz des Ortsbürgrmeisters, des Revierförsters und gleichzeitig Standesamt der Verbandsgemeinde Vordereifel.

This half-timbered building, which is in the core of the building, is called "Rathaus" or "Viergiebelhaus". With its three tall half-timbered houses and the powerful ridge stone entrance, it has a distinctive feature of Monreal. The building, which was certainly built as an aristocratic residence, with a generous division of space, was divided in 1737 with a half-timbered wall. This spatial separation created two burgher houses with numerous small rooms. Already during the separation, the southern part of the building (Marktplatz 1) was enlarged by the oriel to the Elz. Around 1820 there were two further extensions in the commercial part of the building (Obertorstrasse 3). The Jung family operated a bakery for generations, which lasted until 1976. The municipality of Monreal acquired both houses in 1989 and 1992, with the aim of bringing the building largely to its original state. Initial analyzes showed the urgency of this project. Five centuries and the careless handling of our ancestors with the building fabric had severely damaged the house. After extensive reconstruction with funds from the municipality of Monreal and the ideal and financial assistance of the state of Rhineland-Palatinate (funds from the village reform and the national office for preservation of monuments) and the German Foundation for Monument Protection, the measure was successfully completed after two years of construction. Within the framework of a Dorffest, the house was handed over to its new destination on 16 July 2004. Today, it is the lively cultural center of the town, the service of the local mayor, the foreman, and at the same time the headquarters of the federation community Vordereifel.
