Duas inscrições na Igreja de S. Vicente de Sousa, da época românica, permitem conhecer a sua história. A inscrição comemorativa da Dedicação da Igreja encontra-se gravada na face externa da parede da nave, à direita do portal lateral norte do templo, revelando que a Igreja foi sagrada em 14 de agosto de 1214.

Como garante a inscrição, a cerimónia de Dedicação foi presidida pelo Arcebispo de Braga, D. Estêvão Soares da Silva, que ocupou o cargo entre 1212 e 1228. A dedicação foi promovida pelo prelado da Igreja, D. Fernando Raimundo. O dia 31 de agosto de 1214 coincidiu com um domingo, como era canonicamente recomendado para a realização deste tipo de cerimónia. (visit link)

Inscriptions at the church of St. Vicente de Sousa, allow to know his story. The commemorative inscription of the dedication of the church is engraved on the outside wall of the nave on the right side of the north gate of the temple, revealing that the church was consecrated in August 14, 1214.

In order to ensure the enrollment, the dedication ceremony was presided by the Archbishop of Braga, D. Estêvão Soares da Silva, who served between 1212 and 1228.
