This leash-free park is located in a large publicly-accessible property known as the Blackwell Trails Park. The property is a former landfill site and is owned and managed by Waste Management.
The Waymark coordinates are for the main parking area, a short narrow laneway which ends at a gate. There are a few parking spots at the end of the laneway and additional parallel parking along the length of the laneway. To reach the leash-free park, walk a short distance into the park beyond the gate (there is a walk-though passage way). Because the parking area is small, you might be required to park at the second parking area (N 43 00.443 W 082 20.944). that is the main parking area for the Blackwell Trails Park, and there is a wide gravel which leads from the parking lot to the leash-free area (a distance of several hundred meters). If you use the secondary parking area, be sure to check the You Are Here map WMT84C (posted near the secondary parking area) to orient yourself prior to setting off for the leash-free park.
There are two separate and fully enclosed sections to this park. One section is designated for small dogs, and the other section is designated for large dogs.
Aside from a single picnic table and a couple trashcans, there are no other amenities at this leash free park. There were a couple dog dishes with water on the day we visited. I did not see any nearby source of potable water and assume that visited voluntarily bring water to keep these dishes full.
The following information is taken from the City of Sarnia website:
There is one leash free dog park in the City located within Blackwell Trails Park (Blackwell Road between Modeland and Michigan Roads). The site, which is owned by Waste Management, contains a 3.5 acre fully enclosed leash free zone for exercising dogs.
