This date stone about 6 feet above ground, straddles the corner of the building on the corner of Wellington Street and Stott Hill.

The centre of the stone shows a Christian cross and the date 1897 straddles this with 18 on the left (Wellington Street) and 97 on the right (Stott Hill).
The building is close to Bradford Cathedral and was originally built to house St Mary's Roman Catholic Primary School.
Frequent and costly repairs to the building forced the school to close in September 2006 and the pupils merged with another Catholic school nearby.
The Christians Against Poverty group now use the building and hve refurbished it. They have named the building the Jubilee Centre and use it for a food bank and The Light Church.
Their website has the following information.
"The Light is an exciting new church in Bradford, West Yorkshire. We're a group of people from random backgrounds and walks of life, but with one thing in common - we want to know and love God more than we do today. Jesus left us with two simple concepts - loving God, loving people. Loving God: we want to grow in our love and knowledge of this amazing god who made us, saw us muck up and then sent His son to rescue us from the mess we've made of our life. Loving people: we want to be a people who truly love and care for each other, and also who love and care for our community. Jesus being our example."
