"One of the Trust’s biggest endeavors is the Turner Katy Trail Shelter in Tebbetts, MO. This old two-story structure, a gift from the Turner family, has been modified with restrooms and showers, many bunk beds and dressers, heating, air conditioning and water. It also has many other amenities to serve non-profit youth groups with a low-cost place to stay when using the Katy Trail. When not full, it is also available first come/first serve to anyone using the Katy Trail for a nominal fee. Thousands have stayed at and enjoyed the comfort of this one-of-a-kind home away from home along the Katy Trail.
"The Trust’s involvement with the Katy Trail State Park goes back to the Katy Trail’s beginning – its acquisition and construction. Almost entirely with funds provided by Ted Jones, the Trust acquired the right-of-way, helped fight many battles regarding the Trail, and, administratively, funded the construction of the Trail with the ultimate goal of turning it over to the Department of Natural Resources to be the state’s longest state park.
"The Trust has funded many adjunctive Trail projects including some of the Trail kiosks and parking areas and has helped with major projects such as the Jefferson City bridge bike lane which links the State Capitol area in Jefferson City, Missouri to the Katy Trail State Park." ~ Conservation Foundation of Missouri Charitable Trust
