Prior to its construction, the lot was home to a Chinese laundry owned by Yep Ah Pung. Mr. Pung had his business there up until 1911 when Sparta Steam Laundry moved across the street into the Sahrt Furniture Store. To replace the old building this building was built in 1913 to house the Davis and Jones Furniture Store which was owned by D.F. Davis and John Jones. The furniture store occupied this building as well as the second story of the William Hoffman building next door. The store remained in this building until at least 1916. Little more is known about the building's residents. Today the building is used as apartments.
