Since 1998, the Roman bathing complex at the Viehmarkt has been open to visitors. Here you can impressively take a look into the Trier city history!
In the 1st century the Romans erected this great bathing establishment in their imperial residence Augusta Treverorum.
Some tombstones still bear witness to a cemetery of the Jewish community at a later date. Jüdemerstraße got its name. In the 17th and 18th century a monastery garden of the Capuchin monastery was built here. With the abolition of the monastery in 1802, the current Viehmarkt was established as a market square.
