"Ulysses Philomathic Library is a public library in the village of Trumansburg, New York which is located within the town of Ulysses. The town existed at the time the library was founded as a private association in 1811 but the village was not incorporated until 1872. Philomathic means “love of learning”. The library serves the town of 4,775 residents according to the 2000 census. Work began on the current Greek Revival and brick library building in 1991. The library is a member of the Finger Lakes Library System."
"When I began as the Volunteer Coordinator earlier this year, I was surprised and impressed with the team of regularly committed volunteers who keeps this Library going every day. This valuable participation from our community has continued to grow with a variety of new volunteers with an amazing diversity of backgrounds including: a visiting professional from silicon valley, a chiropractic student fulfilling community service hours, middle school students assisting the summer reading program, high school students looking to enhance their college applications, the newly retired, and a returning college professor."
"On Saturday, October 8th, the library will celebrate Indie Author Day! This is a chance for aspiring authors to meet local, independently published authors who will display their books. They will also give helpful advice on self publishing your work. Please stop by between 10:30 am and noon. We will host Gordon Bonnet, a young adult author of titles including Lock and Key, The Hourglass, Kill Switch, Sephirot, and Skeptophilia. He also teaches science, is a musician, and scuba diver."
