Edith Ring (nee Worsley) died in 1933, and her husband, George Andrew Ring, built the seats in memorial to his late wife. She used to enjoy sitting here, watching the ships passing by.
The land and seats were gifted to the Erina Shire Council for the community.
There is a diamond shaped plaque behind the seats, which reads:
"Edith Ring Rest est. 1936
George and Edith Ring lived on a block of land including this
lookout. Mrs Ring loved to rest here and observe the ships
passing by. After her death in 1933, her husband George built
the seat in her honour and gifted the land to Erina Shire
Council to be held in trust for the community."

"During World War II, the rumour had it that "the rest" was used to signal German submarines off The Entrance and that a family had actually been taken into custody due to their suspicious activities. "
