Dedicated in 2007, this monument was the concept of Korean combat Veteran, Gary Corey. He felt that the Highground had everything except a monument dedicated to the "Forgotten War" as is what the Korean War is often referenced. Corey arranged a committees of 20 former Korean War Veterans to come up with the idea and funding for the tribute. The tribute was designed by La Crosse artist Michael Martino. It was dedicated on July 28, 2007 and shows the hardships and trials that the Soldiers faced in battles such as Heartbreak Ridge. The monument is filled with honor stones for those Korean War Veterans who have passed away as well as a flowing fountain with life like statues showing the pain and trials they faced. When viewed from the sky this monument forms the Ying-Yang symbol. This is just one of many amazing tributes to the United States Military contained at the Highground.
