In Monreal gibt es zwei Burganlagen:
Sie befinden sich in der volkstümlich als "Löwenburg" bezeichneten "Großen Burg", die vor 1229 errichtet und im Jahr 1689 zerstört wurde. Rund 200 Meter nordwestlich liegt die als "Philippsburg" bekannte "Kleine Burg" mit ihrem 25 Meter hohen Turm.

Die Löwenburg wird beherrscht vom für Besucher zugänglichen Bergfried. Eine in Resten erhaltene Schildmauer ummantelt ihn bis zur halben Höhe. Der Eingang zum Bergfried liegt hoch über dem Boden. Dies sollte Angreifern den Zugang erschweren.

Die Mauerreste in Sichtweite links vom Bergfried gehören zum Kapellenbau. Er hatte früher vier Geschosse. Unmittelbar über der Kapelle lag ein Wohnraum. An der nördlichen Außenseite sind noch Reste eines Aborterkers sichtbar. Vor dem Kapellenbau sind Reste des aus dem 17. Jahrhundert stammenden westlichen Wohnbaus erkennbar.

Rechts von der Kapelle befinden sich - durch eine Bresche in der Mauer abgetrennt - die Wände des nördlichen Wohngebäudes. Hier sind Konsolsteine für die Balken der Zwischendecke erhalten.
