Ziel der Flussumleitung war die Versorgung der Mühlen mit Wasser und der Schutz der Stadt als Teil der Stadtmauer vor Angriffen fremder Heere. Dabei enstand auch dieser Wasserfall. (visit link) (visit link) Heute kann man davon nur noch die Mühlräder und das Mühlenmuseum sehen.

Es gibt mehrere Standorte um den 18 Meter tief stürzenden Wasserfall zu bestaunen. Entweder als Panoramaansicht von gegenüber oder von der Brücke direkt oberhalb des Wasserfalls.

Background for the redirection of the river was the need of water in the town. The river, and the resulting waterfall was used as part of the town wall which protected the city from foreign armies. The water was also needed for the overdrift mills. Today you may also visit the mill museum.

You can view the waterfall either from the brigde above the river "Leuckbach". Or you walk a few meters down the street and you will see the panorama of the waterfall together with the mill wheels.
