A miner stands holding a pickaxe in both hands over his proper right shoulder. His left leg is forward and he steps up on a rocky formation. He wears a brimmed hard hat with a light on the front. The sculpture is mounted upon a pyramid-shaped base with two plaques on the front, and is surrounded by a picket fence.
