Shikaoi Park is a beautiful, Japanese garden filled with ponds and flowers. The ornamental garden park commemorates the special relationship between Stony Plain and its sister city, Shikaoi, Japan.

The Sister City Initiative also includes five exchange programs: the Host Family Program, the Student Delegation, the Adult Delegation, the Long-Stay Program, and the Assistant English Teaching (AET) Program. Each program provides the community with an opportunity to gain new knowledge, a deeper cultural understanding, and lifelong friends.

In particular with the Host Family Program every October, approximately 70 Grade 10 students from Shikaoi visit Stony Plain for 10 days. More than thirty host families are needed to house Japanese exchange students.
