J. Schram Jr. started a dry goods business in 1875. In 1877 he built this three story, Italianate style building. He continue his dry goods business until 1904. In 1892 the Sparta Free Library moved into the second floor and stayed there until 1902. By 1911, the first floor became an unnamed saloon. In 1911 there was an unnamed shoe store and millinery. The architect for the building was Mason, John Sharp. The Schram family continued to own the building into the 1930's. Today this building is home to the Urban Nest and Lizzy's Boutique.
