"The history of Mokane on the Kingdom of Callaway Historical Society website mentions that a Methodist church was constructed in the community after 1895. . A 1912 photograph of the Mokane Methodist Church shows a frame center steeple church with some Gothic Revival detail. This church likely dates, however to the 1910s or 1920s, replacing one that was either destroyed by fire or natural disaster or which was outgrown by the congregation.

"This side steeple church retains much of its original materials and configuration, though a very large addition was added to the northern (side) elevation in c. 2005. The original block sits on a concrete foundation, has brick walls, and pressed metal siding in the gable and the upper stories of the corner tower. The original block of the church also retains its pressed metal shingles. The primary (west) elevation has a centered, tall round arched window, flanked on the north by a smaller round arch window and on the south by the tower which contains the entrance. The entrance is sheltered by a hipped roof porch supported by simple columns. The second and third tiers of the tower are clad in pressed metal siding. The second tier contains round arched windows and the top has square topped vented openings, possibly marking the historic belfry. The addition has a cross gable roof, with a shorter front gable portion with round arch windows balancing the larger gable of the original building."
