The main part of the home was built in 1814 with the rear section build in 1790. It is a 2 story clapboard sided framed house. It is set upon a stone foundation.

Rokeby was the family homestead of Rowland Evans Robinson, one of Vermont's most prominent writers, chronicler of Vermont dialect and customs of the 1840's.

The home and related buildings were declared a National Historic Landmark in 1997 for its relation to Robinson and as a part of the Underground Railroad.

Today the home and buildings on the property is a museum.
