The plaque reads:

Peabody Revitalization


Designed by Chicago architect Walter Ahlschlager in 1925, the Peabody Hotel was restored by Philip and Jack belts in 1980. During the restoration, workers removed a basement walls to install pipe accidentally discovering the hotel’s original blueprints inside the wall.
