This impressive building of red brick dates from 1873 and was in use until 1915. A historic plaque on the front of the clock tower gives some history of the building as follows:

"THE CLOCK TOWER

Built in 1873
This building housed the local fire station until 1915

Erected by Heath and Hampstead Society"
