Hinter ihm liegen Monate, in denen er umplanen musste. Und auch die Renovierung des kleinen Baudenkmals war aufwendiger als gedacht. Doch jetzt läuft es rund.

In den kommenden Wochen würde Cevik sein Angebot, das aus süßen und herzhaften türkischen Backwaren besteht, gern durch eine kleine Außenbewirtschaftung erweitern. Wenn es mit den Genehmigungen hinhaut, könnte es pünktlich zur Großveranstaltung "Rhein in Flammen" eröffnet werden. Doch auch ohne diesen Part hatte der Unternehmer guten Grund zu feiern.

"Das Hauptproblem war, dass in dem kleinen Kiosk keine Personaltoiletten eingerichtet werden können. Und die sind nun mal vorgeschrieben. Eine Alternativlösung musste her. Auf Vermittlung von Romy Zahren von der Koblenz-Touristik wurde eine Lösung gefunden. Martin Fuchs erklärte sich schließlich bereit, sein Aparthotel am Münzplatz für das kleine Team zu öffnen. "Ich bin beiden sehr dankbar", erklärt Orhan Cevik. Dass am Ende eine pragmatische Lösung gefunden wurde, liegt auch im Interesse der Koblenz-Touristik. Der Eigenbetrieb der Stadt ist nämlich Vermieter - und alle Beteiligten wollten eigentlich das ganze Projekt bereits im vergangenen Herbst erfolgreich abgeschlossen haben. Denn einen Leerstand - womöglich für immer - wollte niemand. Zu frisch sind die Erinnerungen an die vielen gescheiterten Konzepte rund um den Kiosk, die vom Obstladen bis zum Brückenmuseum reichten.

Und auch für den neuen Mieter, ein gelernter Einzelhandelskaufmann, geht ein lang gehegter Wunsch in Erfüllung. Für ihn ist der Kiosk Teil einer Strategie, um seine Bäckerei am Lützeler Bahnhof an die Altstadt anzubinden. Denn tagsüber und in den frühen Abendstunden gehen viele Menschen über die Balduinbrücke - und die meisten von ihnen könnten Kunden werden, so das Kalkül des Unternehmers, dessen Geschäft moderat wachsen soll. "Ich will den Überblick behalten", hatte er schon beim Ortstermin mit den Touristikern im vergangenen Sommer betont.

Seine Bäckerei "Firin Deluxe" hat Orhan Cevik sorgfältig aufgebaut und genau analysiert, was läuft und was nicht. Und die rechtlichen Hintergründe hat er auch geklärt. Da er selbst kein Handwerker ist, hat er einen Bäckermeister eingestellt. Das verlangt die Handwerksordnung, über deren Einhaltung die HwK Koblenz wacht. Auch sein Verkaufsteam hat der junge Unternehmer in den vergangenen Monaten aufgebaut. Um die Filiale an der Brücke werden sich ab sofort Verlaufsleiterin Katja Steinepreis, Selda Kaya und Elvin Kulaksiz kümmern. Auch sie gehen optimistisch ans Werk.

Der 1923 nach Plänen des Architekturbüros Huch & Grefges auf einem kleinen Turm der mittelalterlichen Stadtmauer errichtete Kiosk wurde höchst unterschiedlich genutzt – sogar als kleines Museum der Altstädter. Dass er jetzt wieder dem ursprünglichen Zweck nahekommt, passt gut zu den aktuellen Entwicklungen in der Altstadt. Dort erleben Kioske und kleine Läden mit flexiblen Öffnungszeiten eine regelrechte Renaissance, doch sind die jetzigen Inhaber wesentlich breiter aufgestellt als frühere Generationen. Orhan Cevik will aber nicht dem allgemeinen Trend folgen, sondern eine Marktnische besetzen. Backwaren als Teil türkischer Kultur sind in Koblenz noch nicht weit verbreitet. Deshalb rechnet er sich gute Chancen aus – die Ecke von Balduinstraße und Burgstraße erfüllt eine Scharnierfunktion. Kleine Spezialitäten – warm oder kalt – dazu Getränke: Diese Mischung läuft nicht nur aus Sicht von Orhan Cevik gut. Die Koblenzer Touristiker sind ebenfalls optimistisch. Der klassische Kiosk mit Zigaretten und Zeitschriften wird es aus ihrer Sicht schwerer haben.
