EN: The steel truss bridge on the Lötschberg line crosses the river Rhone west of the railway station of Brig. It has a length of about 85 meters and crosses the river diagonally at an angle of about 30 degrees.

Actually, there are two bridges. The southern bridge was inaugurated in 1912. The northern bridge was added in 1980 with the extension of the line to two tracks.

The Lötschberg line was the main connection between the Canton of Berne and Valais from 1912 to 2007. Since the opening of the Lötschberg base tunnel, it has become a branch line, which is still navigated by RegioEx- and freight trains.

DE: Die Stahlfachwerkbrücke an der Lötschberglinie überquert die Rhone westlich des Bahnhofs von Brig. Sie hat eine Lange von etwa 85 Metern und überquert den Fluss schräg in einem Winkel von etwa 30 Grad.

Eigentlich handelt es sich um zwei Brücken. Die südliche Brücke wurde 1912 in Betrieb genommen. Die nördliche Brücke kam 1980 bei der Erweiterung der Strecke auf zwei Spuren dazu.

Die Lötschberglinie war von 1912 bis 2007 die Hauptverbindung zwischen dem Kanton Bern und dem Wallis. Seit der Eröffnung des Lötschbergbasistunnels ist sie zu einer Nebenlinie geworden, die noch von RegioExpress- und Güterzügen befahren wird.
