Built on the old site of the Metrodome, US Bank Stadium is the new home for the Minnesota Vikings professional American football team of the National Football League (NFL). The very first regular season game played at the stadium was September 18, 2016 where the Vikings defeated their division rival the Green Bay Packers by a score of 17-14. The building cost just over 1 Billion US dollars to build. The ground breaking of the stadium was December 3, 2013 and it was officially opened on July 22, 2016. It will play host to the Super Bowl (NFL Championship) on February 4, 2018; The NCAA Final Four (US College Basketball Championships) in 2019; and the ESPN X Games in 2017 and 2018.
